Insomnia, screaming child and the crazy heat has made me very tired in the past few days. So much so, that I was too tired to blog. I am covering yesterday and today in one blog.
Day 11
I woke up at 4 in the morning. I blame the extreme heat that is affecting everyone in the city. So even with the air conditioning on in the night, I woke up and could not go back to sleep. I spent the time trying to read the news and some other general research but by the time I was ready to go to work, I was tired and grumpy. I started my day at work with a hot coffee and a bacon, egg, mushroom toastie. I usually do not like having a big breakfast but after my insomniac night, I needed food to fuel my body.
We had lunch with our new starters yesterday at the art house hotel across the road from work. It was a set menu and the food was alright. I had pumpkin ravioli for entree which was average. As I had had big breakfast, I left the mains of chicken untouched. It took a long time for the food to arrive, so I did not have the dessert as I had to leave.
Avi had cooked dal for dinner but my fabulous friends Gia and Shruti gave me chole and kadhi for dinner. Both the dishes turned out to be delicious and a great accompaniment to the rice we had intended to have with the dal. Here is the pic of some of the meals.
Day 12
It was another sleepless night, thanks to my darling son who decided that he wants to call mummy all night at intervals and cry and scream ensuring that whatever sleep stupor I was in , gets jolted out of me. So another day to work tired and grumpy. The only silver lining was that it was Friday!
Breakfast today was sourdough toast with a hot coffee. My meal plan of having idli and upma for breakfast was thrown out of the window thanks to the sleepless nights, 2 in a row!
I had to go to Myers for lunch as I had to return these Royal Doultan glasses that I had bought from them. All the 6 glasses were different in rim width and length giving them a weird look when placed together. I tried seeing if I could exchange them for another box but all of them were in the same condition. Poorly made batch, I suppose. For lunch I bought boiled rice with palak paneer and tofu vegetable from the food court underneath. The food was alright, I can cook better meals 🙂
After much deliberation and changing my mind three times, I settled on bhindi masala and parathe for dinner. This is my feel good dinner and always reminds me of my annual visit to Jaipur to my grandmothers house. She would cook this for dinner and I loved it then and love it now. Below is the recipe and pictures.
