100 days of Tech Detox – Day 13

Posted on March 17, 2016 by Sonali

I am restarting, so the tally starts from where I left. How did I go yesterday? Brilliant I must say….I was true to myself. I did not touch the iPad and iPhone after 7! And how did I spend my evening – playing with my son and cooking!

We have a new place for children to play. The council, after multiple petitions and applications, has built the park for the kids. It has a few rides – a monkey bar, a slide and a roundabout. I took Yash there to play and it was full. It was great to see all the kids run around and have fun. Kids, all age, shape and form, were there. Some were playing on the slide, others were climbing on the roundabout (my dare devil son climbed to the top). A few were playing soccer! There was a camradiere in the air and a real community feeling.

Back home, I taught my friends daughter. Did you know that I am a qualified teacher? And I love it! They always say that think about what you would do if you did not have to worry about money or any other pressures. And for me that is teaching. I feel it is the most under appreciated profession. The teachers play a big part in shaping our future generations. For me that is one way I feel I can give back to the society. It was fun teaching maths and the concepts came rushing back to me.

I then cooked palak paratha with aloo while watching MKR. Now Yash and I both are fans of the show and the contestants feel like friends. We have watched all episodes and continue to follow it till it ends. Dinner at home was a hit too! We went to bed in time and I spent the evening reading a book. It was a welcome change. I am re-reading my feel good book – The Hindi Bindi Club. I highly recommend especially if you are an Indian expat. It even has recipes in the book.

More tomorrow – till then, enjoy this picture below. It will motivate you!
