Another day! For some reason, I did not have a good night’s sleep meaning I was tired when I woke up. My insomnia is back! It always happens when it is the change of season. I think my body does not know if it is cold or hot and the first thing that gets affected is my sleep. Oh well! The cold Is catching up, so it will not be long before winters are upon us. Time for some hot chocolates and roasts!
Holi was celebrated in india yesterday and I spoke to my family and friends who were celebrating with a lot of gusto. I got some pictures of my cousins and my nieces drenched in water and colours but happy nevertheless. We had a quiet day in preparation for long weekend and celebrations today.
There were some good things that happened in india. The widows in vrindavan broke centuries old tradition and played Holi. The officers in Kerala took the Dalits to pray in the temples, again breaking the social norms. I loved that the Internet is educating subtly and giving the courage to break the redundant practices.
On a sad note, Brussles was rocked by bomb blasts with multiple innocent lives lost. We live in a troubled world and it saddens me that we are leaving a fractured world for our kids. It is heartbreaking that human beings want to kill each other in the name of power, religion or anything that they find different in another human being when all we were born to do was love. We can only hope that something changes and we are reminded that only love heals!
Someone posted something on FB that caught my eye. In this day of technology and social media, let us not forget the essence of the festivals. Let us hug and spread love, festivals are a good excuse to do that more and more. On that note, till tomorrow……
