I have missed almost an entire week of blogging. Partly because I was sick but partly because my head was not in the right place. Does it happen to you when you are so tired that you just feel overwhelmed and everything seems like a chore? I get into that mode from time to time where all I crave for is solitude! I want to curl up and gather myself together and anything and everyone irritate me. Once I have had my me time, I am back to my normal self and become the cheerful person that people know. Oh well, mind plays out in various ways and mine does in this form!
The week went in a jiffy. When you are sick, you can’t do much anyways. So mine was spent doing the bare minimum and watching endless TV – feel good mostly so mainly Downton Abbey and cheesy romances. One of the ones that I watched and I had not watched before was the Salman Khan starrer Bodyguard. But later on that. The best thing that happened this week was that my friend Adam visited me from London. It was so good to see him – we chatted to the dozen, it was like he had never left! We celebrated his birthday in our small way. Here’s the pic!
Movie review – Bodyguard
I was a bit biased when I started watching the movie as I am a huge Salman fan. The movie turned out to be okay but like all Bollywood movies, a bit dragged on. The story is about Lovely Singh(Salman Khan) who becomes a bodyguard to the daughter Divya(Kareena Kapoor) of a kind hearted rich man Sartaj(Raj Babbar). She doesn’t like him following her everywhere initially, so she concocts a plan to distract him with her friend Maya(Hazel Keech). She starts calling him as Chhaya pretending to be in love with him. Initially Lovely rebuffs the advances but gradually starts looking forward to the calls and falls in love with Chhaya unaware that it is Divya. After a fight at a local pub, when Lovely saves her life, Divya starts loving him too (strange right).
When Chhaya aka Divya asks Lovely to meet her at the station to elope, she is heard by a maid who lets her mom know. Her father send goons to kill Lovely and is only spared when Divya tells him that it was not her but his love is waiting at the station. So that Lovely is not heartbroken, she sends Maya to go to the station to tell the truth. Maya doesn’t and in stead steals her friends love and pretends to be Chhaya and elopes with Lovely.
After a few years Lovely visits Sartaj with his son. Maya has died and left his diary for his son to tell him the truth. So the son asks Divya to be his mom(kids are so smart). Lovely is taken aback but agrees after receiving the blessings from her father. The son throws the diary away but is picked by Lovely who finally comes to know that Divya was Chhaya and Maya was a liar. They are shown to embrace.
The utter romantic in me loved the romance even though the story was nonsensical. The music is amazing especially “Teri Meri” and Salman was the cherry on the cake. Watch it for him! Till tomorrow…..
