One day already gone from the weekend! Friday was long awaited but the evening came quick. There were multiple meetings at work which ensured that the day went in a jiffy. Lunch was a pub lunch at a nearby pub. I had veggie burger which was a surprise at an Aussie pub but we are talking about Surry hills! So vegan/veggie pubs do not surprise me!
May and June are the Cancer council months. Ladies across the country host Morning tea – some at home and some at work. The ones who can’t organise, attend and donate generously. The idea is to raise money for the worthy cause while having fun. My friend Pam and I decided to be the host. She hosted one weekend and i decided to host on the last weekend of May. This was done before I found my job, so it seemed a good idea at the time.
But when has life gone as per plan? First the weather God decided that it was good morning to dump the rainfall that he had been holding back for the whole month. Also, a good day to freeze everyone asses. This meant that my idea of having a morning tea in the backyard under the winter sin went out of the window. On top of that, 1030 on a Saturday morning for a non-working me was a great idea but now I realised that it was not the most convenient time not only for me but for all the guests what with Saturday being the day for kids classes.
Oh well! It still went ahead due to my tenacity and support of some wonderful ladies who were ready to get together and donate for a good cause, bad weather not withstanding. So it turned out to be a fun morning. Put a few ladies together and what happens? There is a lot of chit chat and laughter. It was so much fun. The best part, there were a few who were meeting for the first time and it did not feel like it. Everyone bonded well and had a good time. Women power at its best!
I always feel that when women join forces, they can conquer the world and having such a supportive group of people in the house was very empowering. I am grateful that I can call them my friends. Here is to more such get together for causes and sometimes just to have fun! Till next time….
