Cooking is therapeutic! There has been proven research that kneading the dough, sautéing and mixing spices and making a meal with love makes you happy. Food is usually associated with memories and hence always has a strong association to happiness.
That is why in most of the old cultures, you will find festivals and food go together! Families came together to cook and laugh and be merry. Even today, any big occasion revolves around food – be it Christmas or Diwali.
When we were building our house, I paid a lot of attention to our kitchen. I wanted it to be a open place where we could sit and talk while cooking. I am very happy that I was able to achieve that.
I cook most days but during the week it is mostly staple, sustenance food – lentils, rice, bread etc. But weekends are meant for special food. Now that we are in isolation, we are constantly remembering our childhood food and the memories associated with them.
So I decided to make my favourite Bedami Aloo today. It is a famous North Indian breakfast and a speciality in our house. I don’t make it very often as it requires a bit of effort – remembering to soak the lentil etc. But I wanted to post something special.
It was a hit. My son loved it so much that he even ate it for dinner. Here is the pic of it hot off the kadai. So what did you cook today?
