We all gain lessons from our lives and hope that our kids learn from our life lessons. It comes from wanting to protect them. But, some like my son, want to make their own mistakes and learn from it. Still, below are the three things I wish my son would learn from my life.
- Travel the world – Don’t get tied to a place because of any fears. The world is a beautiful place, so travel across it. It is the best kind of education. So don’t let anything like degrees or jobs shackle you down.
- Don’t take life too seriously – In a similar vein, life has a way of unfolding itself. So don’t take it seriously – take each day as it comes, savour every moment and love and live life.
- Chart your own way – When society was formed, they made some rules for the benefit of a few. Break those shackles and live your life the way you desire. That is the hallmark of a success.
My son is leading a very different life to mine, in a world that is very different to what I grew up in but some of the lessons remain the same. I hope that he embraces the learnings and live a life that has fewer regrets.
