Kindness – the second most powerful force in the world after Love! If we look closely at all the religions, scriptures and preachings objectively, they all teach to be kind. But for some reason their followers across the world choose to ignore that part of the teachings.
I learnt kindness from my grandmother and my parents. They taught through their actions that it was more important to be kind than to be right. They would not differentiate between humans and would rather not respond than be unkind.
Growing up in Punjab, I also learnt kindness through Sikhism. It is based on the concept of “Sewa” or compassion and kindness for fellow human beings. You will hear stories about sikhs being in the forefront of helping out in the world. As a young girl, I learnt that early on through cooking and servings at langars.
Kindness is required even more in today’s world of uncertainty and it starts at home. Be kind to yourself, your family and friends and you will get in practice to be kind to others.
