M is always magic for me. Life is magical – if we look around, it is full of wonders. Right from the birth of a child to blooming of flowers, everything is magic.
As I have mentioned in my past blogs, I was lucky to grow up with my grandmother. She was a woman far ahead of her times. As a single mother, she had raised 4 kids and was the most empathetic and compassionate woman. She used to tell us stories – most of them mythological – but it always had an element of magic and a moral at the end. They were fascinating and we grew up appreciating the universe and everything around us.
Amma, as we used to call my grandmother, used to weave her story magic in every day to day scenario. She was a practicing Hindu and believed in dharma. So she would show us the sun and day when it is shining bright, it means that we have done something right. If it is hidden by the clouds, it means that the clouds are having a negotiation with the sun.
She would show us magic in food by talking about the various shapes and colours of vegetables woven in stories. We would visit the temple and every god there had so many stories.
That helped us bond with the universe and nature around us and truly look at it in a magical way. Even now when I look at a flower blooming, I remember my amma and how she would have a story around it.
Life is truly beautiful and we should keep it interesting by taking it slow and appreciating and enjoying everything around us. We have finite time on this earth and this helps us lead it magically!
