X is for XO which stands for hugs and kisses in popular culture. I started researching as to how it came about. The internet has many theories – it seems X resembles lip lock and O looks like two people embracing. I cannot see it but symbolism has always been interesting.
I am a big fan of hugs and kisses – more former than latter. Humans have always thrived on touch and I like hugging to show my affection. Of course it also depends on the other person’s comfort – not everyone likes hugs.
This was pre-COVID world. Now with the pandemic on, hugs and kisses seem like a distant dream. I miss the spontaneous hugs that we were able to give each other. I even miss the humble handshake with strangers.
I know post the pandemic we will be embarking on a very different world. I do hope I am able to still manage the simple acts of affection like hugs, kisses and touch with the loved ones.
