As I gained wisdom, I realised that happiness is not something to chase but what you experience. And we have to make a conscious effort to add it to our lives especially in this world where we are surrounded with things pulling us down rather than lifting us up.
I feel happy in small things and have learnt the art of adding or looking for it in everyday life. Some of the things that make me happy in my everyday life:
- A hot cup of tea in the morning made by my darling husband.
- Working from home
- A walk in my beautiful estate in the afternoon
- Snuggles with my 15 year old
- Laughing at a shared memory with my husband
- Talking to my parents and learning about what’s happening in the lives of extended family
- Discussing movies with my sister over the phone when we are 14000 kms apart
- Looking at the flowers sprouting in my garden
- Cooking and eating a freshly cooked meal
- Sleeping on my king size bed
I feel joy in these humdrum things. Happiness is a state of mind and it is a choice. So make a happy choice today and everyday.
