Yesterday was another hectic day. The three boys wee at our place. It was lots of fun seeing them interacting and playing games. It took me back to my childhood and the games geek that I am, I also spent the day playing Mario with them. By the end of the day, I had 3 super duper happy boys who were champs. It did help me talk to them about team work and supporting each other. If was good to see them all giving a pat on the back every time someone won the game. All 3 of them are so different but kids are so similar in so many ways! I loved it!
The school holidays are almost over, so next week will be back to grind but the past 2 weeks have been awesome. I am not sure how I will manage the expectations of Yash for next school holidays. Oh well we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
So my match making saga continues. By the way for those of you who can’t relate to this whole concept, I highly recommend watching this movie called “Meet the Patels”. It is an autobiographic documentary of this guy called Ravi Patel in America who goes through the whole arranged marriage concept while his sister is filming it. It is hilarious and ironical at the same time. All my Indian friends will relate to it and for all my Aussie friends, it will give you an insight into how it works! The movie is available on Netflix. Go ahead and watch it. Here is the trailer in the meantime!

Candidate 4
We went to Delhi to meet with a couple if shortlisted candidates. Yep, it is like an interview process. The first were a set of twins. No, only one was interested but he had a twin. The irony is both of them came to meet me and my parents with their elderly mother and one of their brother-in-law. They had 5 sisters, the women had 7 kids and had contributed well to the Indian population of 1 billion.
We were staying at my fathers office guest house at maharani bagh in Delhi which is very posh. She had to climb 4 flight of stairs to reach our room. It took her a good 10 mins to gain her breath back and I was feeling bad. But my sympathy for her disappeared when she opened her mouth. I was having a very hard time controlling my laughter coz of the twins. They were identical and I had no idea which one was the candidate. I kept looking at my mum who finally asked which one was the boy in question. The one in brown pants and blue shirt answered! I was hoping for the other one, he was better dressed.
Anyhow, the mother asked me about my education and if I knew how to cook. They boys were sitting there quietly as if it was their mum getting married and would be spending their life with me. She asked me to sing and I gave a pained look at my mum who dodged the question. Then she asked me to wash my face. I was like what? My mum was the same. Apparently she wanted to check my complexion and if I had not put make up to hide my real colour. That was the last straw, I left the room and my parents said good bye to them. Clearly they were still living in the 18th century but I had no wish to be part of such archaic family.
I was beginning to lose patience. I was a born hippie and was trying yo convince my parents to let me study more and leave home to make a career so that I can travel and enjoy my life. But for them it was important that I got married and I relented coz I loved them and did not want to see them unhappy. The next one will always remain a highlight for me coz I outsmarted him and hoped that he treated the next girl with a bit more respect. Till tomorrow!
