When I was a young girl, this was a norm in summer. We lived in an innocent world devoid of technology and summers in my Nani’s house were fun! We had an evening ritual of spraying water on the rooftop to cool down the floor after the heat all day. Then all the kids put out the bedding on the floor early evening so that by the time it was sleep time, we were coming to a cool bedding. My Nani lived in Jaipur and the days were hot and the evenings cool in the 80s. There was always breeze blowing and we used to chat and listen to radio before falling asleep under the stars. Ah! Simpler times!
I haven’t done that in years. With global warming, coolers and AC, safety issues, the art of sleeping under the stars has been lost. And I want to do it again, to revive my childhood but also to give the same memories as me to yash. This is why it is on my bucket list! This summer, I am determined to go camping and fulfil this desire of mine! Watch this space……
