I love my television. When I got married, it was the one thing I asked my husband and dad for – a TV for our bedroom. I like having it run in the background while I do other things.
I have grown up in an era where we used to have barely any programs on TV and viewing was restricted to some Sunday cartoons and a movie. When globalisation happened in India, and the cable TV came, it was heaven for my sister and I. We loved watching the soap operas and got introduced to the American sitcoms.
We watched Full House, Three’s company, Small Wonder, Family Matters, I Dream of Jeannie and many other American sitcoms from 80s that came in the 90s to India. As the TV viewing matured in India, there was some amazing content locally that we enjoyed – Kshitij yeh nahin, Dekh bhai dekh, Chunuati etc.
While I enjoy movies, TV series still remain my firm favourite. I can watch them on repeat and can spend hours in front of the TV. So I picked the one on the top of my list – Friends! There is no series ever been made that can even come close to it.
I have watched it so many times that I have lost count. But I don’t get tired. I know the dialogues but it makes me laugh every single time I watch it. So today, in this cold weather, I binge watched a season of Friends while enjoying my Friday drink.
