These days, I wish I had more than 24 hours in a day! That pretty much sums up the day in my life – it is busy.
I am not a great sleeper – so my day usually begins early. When I wake up, I read the news, catch up on overnight texts from family and then write my blog. It is the quietest time of the day when both my boys are asleep, so it is easy to focus.
Then it is tea time – I love my morning tea. It has been a ritual since my younger days when my dad used to wake me up with a cup of tea. Now my darling husband makes it and we drink it in peace chatting about the day to kick start the morning. That is our time and we love it!
After that it is time to actually kick off the day. I get up to get ready and at my desk by 8. Work from home means, I don’t have to travel which is great and saves close to 3 hours of my commute.
My work day is busy with meetings and the only reprieve I have is my lunch hour. I normally try and take a 30 min walk during that time. During winters, with shorter days, it is a perfect time for a quick walk and I like walking in the warm winter sun.
On most days, I finish at 4 and after a quick cup of tea, I am usually in the kitchen preparing dinner. We bulk cook in our house, so I am mostly preparing for the next few days. The days I don’t have to cook, I spend with my son or watching TV.
The cooking time is also the time for conversation as we are all in and around the kitchen trying to chat about our day. It is buzzy…
We like to eat early and retire to bed after dinner. I spend the last hour before sleeping, reading a book. Again, a habit from my younger days, I cannot sleep without reading. So it is now a pattern. I am asleep by 9pm at the latest.
As you can see, my weekdays are quite set and boring. The occasional change is if I go to work or if I catch up for lunch with friends. My weekends are different and mostly spent with family and friends and I try and break the monotony by following no pattern.
I am looking fwd to days when I follow no routine and travel more, something that is missing from my life at the moment. Till then, a day in my life will be like a cookie cut by a cutter – same and boring!
