Day 20 – Favourite romance book

Posted on October 20, 2020December 30, 2021 by Sonali

Being a thorough romantic, I love reading this genre. When I was a young girl, as per the time bound tradition, I read Mills and Boon. Now it does give you a distorted view about romance but they were my first romantic novel. Since then I have read classic love stories like Pride and Prejudice and some trashy ones too.

But my favourite romance novel is different. It was the chance introduction to historical romantic fiction by a friend . She introduced me to Jude Deveraux. The first book I read was The Conquest. I enjoyed it so much I read the first one from the same series – The Taming. But I still hadn’t read my favourite book.

It is only when I read A Knight in Shining Armor that I discovered my favourite romantic novel. It is a time travel romance between an American woman and an English earl transported from the Elizabethan era. Destined to be soul mates through all eternity, they move back and forth between centuries to right the wrongs and gain strength from each other.

Like all my favourite books, I have read this multiple times. And every time I fall in love a little bit more. The author’s description of the Elizabethan era is spot on and the use of real historical characters makes the book feel real

I highly recommend reading the book and Jude Deveraux other books if historical romance is your genre. In the meantime, I will dig out the book again to read another time.
