I am a die hard foodie. I love food and love trying cuisines from all over the world. Living in a multicultural country like Australia, I don’t have to go far when I want to try a certain kind of food. In winters, I love Ramen, Laksa and dumplings. I can have them everyday.
But when I crave, it is food from home. My soul food will always remain what I grew up with – simple food like Dal chawal, roti sabji and other things that my mum made everyday.
For the past few weeks I have been craving Chhole Bhature – it is fried leavened bread with tangy chick pea curry. It is a staple weekend breakfast in Punjab, where I grew up and people line up at certain eateries to have them. Best had straight from oil, the hallmark of a great Bhatura is that it should not be oily.
They come in all varieties – stuffed with potatoes or cottage cheese but I love the original. I am looking fwd to my trip back home to devour them. The craving will only be satiated then.
