I wrote about my favourite series in my earlier blog. Now let me tell you about my favourite book from the trilogy. The second book The Winter Rose is my favourite.
The start of the book is slow. But one or two chapters in, it picks up pace. It is a love story between an upper class lady who becomes a doctor and a mob lord from East End of London, set against early 19th century England.
The characters of Sid Malone and India Selwyn Jones are very well described. The way their love story progresses, in spite of little commonality between them, is the foundation of the story.
The grey characters in the book are intriguing. There are some known ones from the first book but India’s Jewish best friend and Sid Malone’s 2nd in charge show a different kind of love and friendship.
I have read this book multiple times and it remains one of my firm favourites. It is one for the rainy days, sitting on the balcony, sipping a nice cup of tea! Go get your copy now.
