Day 48 – 6th September 2013

Posted on September 7, 2013 by Sonali

#freedom, such a powerful but one of the most overused words in history. It means so many different things to different people but I also believe that the meaning changes as you progress in your life stages. For someone in Syria, right now #freedom has a whole different meaning to someone sitting in their home in Australia.

What does it mean for me? Having no barriers in what I want to do…this is putting it very simply. When I was growing up, the biggest barrier probably was societal pressure. For a rebel and free spirit like me, adhering to societal norms was hard and at that point of time, #freedom for me was breaking those barriers and preconceived notions. Today it means an entirely different thing as those barriers probably lie more in my head, so breaking them is even harder. But hey, I did wear red pants today!

I decided to wear my new red jeans today. A few years ago, this would have been unthinkable but I was like whatever! I have to try it for my sake. I wore it with plain black top to get the look of the day.
