If you meet me, you will know I am a foodie. I not only love food, I love trying different types of cuisines. Living in a multicultural country like Australia means that the options are plenty.
My favourite cuisine remains Thai and Japanese – both are made with fresh ingredients and are packed with flavours. I am lucky we have restaurants close to home which offer both cuisines and we frequent them often.
But at home, I love my comfort food. I like to eat food that I grew up on and cook some of my mom’s recipes but with my own twist. I am an intuitive cook and have learnt cooking through experimenting with flavours or looking at recipes for guidelines and throwing things together the way I like them. That is why, it has always been hard for me to go to cooking classes and follow the recipe to the tee.
Dinner tonight was a simple chole chawal or chickpeas and rice in the west. On cold winter nights, it is comfort food and reminds me of home. I had mine with a side of samosa to kick off the weekend.
