I have been a chronic insomniac and have been fighting sleep for years. I fell into the modern pattern that partying and missing sleep is okay. Sleep became at the bottom of the list rather than at the top. I was unaware of the impact this was having on my well being.
A couple of years ago I read “Thrive” by Arianna Huffington. It was a penny dropping moment for me. It took me back to my roots and what my grandmother used to tell me growing up. She was particular that we return home by dusk and have dinner to go to bed on time. She was always telling us stories about the lack of sleep and how it led to bad decisions.
Arianna has been one of the first high profile celebrity who has been pushing about sleep and the impact of the lack of it. I highly recommend her book “Thrive” and joining the Sleep Revolution.
I have noticed that I am much happier when I have a good night’s sleep. So it is my goal this year to ensure that I have at least 8 hours sleep. My happiness depends on it. On that note, good night and let us kick this goal!
