I am a book lover! I love reading and if I am with my books, then I am in a world of my own!
I developed my love for reading and books at a young age. Our school had a massive library and it had a connected reading room. The whole place was beautiful and my rendezvous with books began there.
I started out with Enid Blyton, read the classics – Charles Dickens, Emily Bronte, Jane Austen but also enjoyed Famous Five, Nancy Drew etc. As I grew up my hunger for reading grew alongside and I had a partner in crime – my sister. We spent all our pocket money on books and comics.
When I got married, I was ecstatic to know that my mother in law and my sister in law shared my passion of reading. I grew my library with them. When I moved to Australia, I had to leave my books behind but I slowly grew one here and filled 2 bookcases.
When kindle was launched, I was hooked to digital books as I could carry my library everywhere with me. Now I own as many physical books as digital and am never short of reading something.
An eclectic reader, I read as per my mood but some books remain firm favourites. An avid fan of Indian authors, I love reading fiction set against modern Indian history. I also love the books against the backdrop of Edwardian and Victorian era in London.
These days I follow my friend Nell for suggestions on what to read. She is a prolific reader and her reviews are amazing. You will definitely find some suggestion to suit your taste.
I am reading a favourite of mine at the moment – it is a book that I have read a lot of times but can read it again and again when I am feeling low. It is “As the Crow Flies” by Jeffery Archer. The story is full of twists and turns like a typical archer novel and I love the central character Charlie Trumper.
A friend suggested I post the names of all the books that I own and start a swapping service. Sounds like a good idea but I have to think about it coz I love my books and hate to lose them. Still, something to consider! So what did you read today?
