Today’s question – “What scent do I like?”
For someone who has a very strong sense of smell, I started wearing perfume at an early age. Initially it was the local ittar. If you have not been exposed to ittar, you are missing. Ittar or attar are the oil based perfumes made from essential oils and are available in India and Middle East. I used to love musk and rose.
The smell of musk stuck and as I grew older and could afford perfumes – they are very expensive in India – I started wearing Jovan Musk for women.
When I moved to Oz, I was bowled over by the variety of perfumes at my disposal. I tried a few but they say that perfumes smell different on various skins. After a lot of trial and error, I settled on Obsession by Calvin Klein. It became my perfume of choice.
A friend gifted me Opium by Yves St Laurent. The musk captivated me again and I added it to my choice of perfumes to wear.
Both of these are strong perfumes and I was looking for a flowery, light one for spring and summer and I loved Issey Miyake for Women.
These smells are now my signature perfumes and I don’t wear anything else. I rotate between them based on the occasion and my mood as I have realised that my emotions have an impact on how they smell on my skin.
Good smells have a positive effect on my moods and make me happy. So I take care that I smell nice and surround myself with nice smells.
