The last month of the year is always bitter sweet. It is a chance to look back at the time gone by but also how quickly it goes away. Time is the most precious thing as it cannot be earned or gained. You can only spend the finite time you have on earth. I have learnt to spend it mindfully.
Every year, I take stock of how I went and how can I learn and grow in the following year. My philosophy always has been to better your life and live and learn rather than ponder on what-ifs!
December was busy. I wanted to make most of the time before the year ended and filled my days with catch ups that gave me joy. I kicked off the month with a dinner with some girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. We are a group of ladies who have come together due to our love for experiences, good life and experiencing joy in each other’s company. The dinner was fun and we were already planning our next catch up.
The first weekend was spent watching Sleeping beauty as a Ballet of light; a beautiful and different experience. We followed that up with dinner and enjoying the Christmas decorations and vibes in the city.
The following weekend, I enjoyed Handel’s Messiah choir at Town Hall. It was my first visit inside Town Hall and I was enthralled both by the historic building and by the music of the choir. It was a night for the memory books.
The holiday season kicked off and we went away to Batemans Bay to recharge our batteries. It was a lazy getaway and we spent time together chatting, eating, walking and plain lounging near water. It certainly helped in relaxing and wiping away some of the stress.
My friend Poornima and I are known for keeping our catch ups interesting. Our friendship is really important to both of us, so for our monthly non-negotiable catch up, we try and go to different places. This time, to end the year on a high, we went to Canberra for lunch and had a great time taking pictures and exploring Canberra. We also launched our new chat channel, something we have been planning for years. Come follow us here.
The holiday season kicked off with get together at friends like family. It was a night of mad laughter that you can only have in the company of people that you are super comfortable with. It was followed by Christmas dinner where it was another night of mad laughter reminiscing about the previous night.
This holiday season has been about lazy morning, no routines and just sleeping eating and being merry – silly season before the humdrum of life kicks in.
When we kicked off 2025, I created some goals for myself and looking back, I have been able to make progress on most of them. 2026 would be about consolidating and growing further as I get older and a little bit more wiser with each passing year.
Here’s a recap of December.
