“Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.” Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix
I feel surreal – this whole thing feels like an alternate reality. The days are fusing into one another and 2020 seems a year beyond imagination. I am not complaining coz I believe in the cycle of life – it will be back as we know it but hopefully for the better.
The weather is getting cooler and our backyard jaunts in the morning are getting shorter. We are both early risers and the air was quite cool today reminding us that winter is not far. My adrak chai drives the blues away. My husband makes the best chai in the world. There is an interesting story behind it.
Before we got married, my sister reminded my husband that I did not wake up and wasn’t a pretty picture till I had my morning tea. My dad had spoilt us and I only woke when there was a cup of hot adrak chai on my bedside. My husband responded “well, she has to change then!” Famous last words! He realised on our honeymoon that my sister’s warning was correct and since then I have been waking up to a hot cuppa. I married a good man – he may not be the most romantic but he shows his love in different ways.
I was in a cooking kinda mood today – breakfast was poha – my son’s favourite. For lunch I made paneer butter masala, restaurant style, along with bhindi(okra) masala that we had with methi roti. It was simple but wholesome lunch.

I wanted to cook something different for dinner. Looking at the cool weather, I chose to make a cheesy mushroom pasta bake. I added an Indian twist to it by adding paprika and black pepper to the cheese sauce. It looked and tasted delicious.

Tomorrow is Good Friday and it will be a different one for millions of Christians across the world. While I am more spiritual than religious, I do believe that a new world order will be established after this pandemic is over. Hopefully, we will have a better world – kinder, pollution free and something that we will be proud to be leaving to our kids and grand kids!
