I am a book worm. I have been fond of reading since a very young age, so much so that I can’t sleep without reading a few pages. I have been lucky to have people around me who encouraged my reading habits.
As a young child, our school had a very extensive library and I read the classics and the contemporary kids books. As I grew older, my love for books and reading grew too and I used to spend all my pocket money on books. One of my aunts mingled in the literary circle and I was exposed to Hindi poetry and classic books in the language. So I had access to a wide variety of books in both English and my native language Hindi.
I am still fond of reading Indian authors. And am always scouring the best sellers. I have a collection of them in my own library and now with kindle and ebooks, I can buy them with my fingertip – literally!
The below have been nominated as the top 5 books by Indian authors – top 12 actually! I looked here to get the list! I have read a few and will read the others. How many have you read?
- A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth
- English, August: An Indian Story by Upamanyu Chatterjee
