The last bit of the Trip!!

Posted on September 18, 2009 by Sonali
Part 3

I know I have really been slack with finishing the 3rd part but have just been so busy…..work and home leaves me no breathing time….the joys of being a working mum:-) Anyways, before I start on my trip details, i wanted to share one of the weird things that I saw at the plaza next door (well, weird in my eyes). A father and a 3-4 year old daughter with a dummy in her mouth…i mean what the hell, aren’t you suppose to stop after like a year? anyways, i found it very weird.

Now to the last part of our trip. We started from the gold coast bright and early. We did not even have breakfast and thought we will have it on the way once we hit the highway..BIG mistake…there was no McDonald’s till Grafton….So by the time Grafton came, I was ready to eat an elephant. Ah, how I love McDonald’s breakfast…the sausage and egg mcmuffin, the hash brown…yum!! After filling our tummies with delicious but extremely unhealthy breakfast, we started our onwards journey to Port Macquarie.

I loved the country side…who would have thought that there would be towns named Woodburn on the way…beautiful!! What a different living to Sydney…so peaceful and relaxed. We reached Port Macquarie late afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to find our apartment to be close to the town centre and the RSL club. We went for the real Aussie deal…the buffet dinner at the Bowling club…it was yum…I mean all you can eat for $19…fabulous!!

After spending another peaceful and quiet night, we went to the famous “Pancake Place”. I had savoury pancakes with eggs and mushrooms. Yum!! Avi had the blueberry pancakes….he cannot get used to the idea of eating savoury pancakes. After such a hearty breakfast, we moved on for home……we were keen to get back by now as Yash was no longer placated by the songs that we had been singing all through the trip. So after a mandatory break at the Woy woy McDonald’s, we reached home early evening, tired and weary but refreshed.

All in all, it was a great trip, something we had wanted to do in a long time…..next year, Melbourne!!
