Ah the weekend arrived and went away in a blink. This is what happens when you are having too much fun! And what fun we had. In our adopted homeland, friends are family – a chosen one too! I spent my weekend with some of my favourite people in the world!
Saturdays start in our family with swimming. Yash loves it and early morning are no trouble if it involves jumping in water. I am keen to join too come spring. Then my Bub and I can enjoy it together. In the afternoon I went for a play date with Yash’s friends and a date with my girlfriends. I had heard of it that your child’s mums become your own friend but never realised how if your wavelengths match, it is so good for your soul. Garima and Padma – thank you for the chats and many more to come!
Saturday evening was a night out at our friends “The Philips” for the GoGs as we call ourselves. And what a fun night! Dancing, singing, laughing coupled with JP and Kala’s awesome hospitality made the night one to remember for long. I was looking around and was thankful for having these people in my life. They make it easy and less lonely when you are living so far away from home.
Sunday was the much awaited Sakhi Sangam. For Indian women, Bollywood style gathering, the theme this year was 70s-80s Bollywood. You had to be in the room to not only see but feel the women power. Tables and tables of gorgeous, beautifully dressed women! And mine had the best. I was very proud to see the Indian women coming so far especially when all that media portrays about india is the regressive side of it. We danced, ate and made merry and I loved it! It will surely be a yearly affair from now on!
It was friendship day yesterday too. What is life without friends? They not only enrich your life but are probably the only people that you choose to be in your life. So thanks to all my friends for being with me through thick and thin; here’s to many more friendship days together.
