Today was Good Friday and as a friend reminded me, it is about Hope! Hope for a better tomorrow and a better future for us and our kids.
It was a cold rainy day today which meant that I had 2 adrak chai instead of one. It was also the first day of the school holidays. So we all had a lazy morning sitting and chatting as a family. Yash demanded a special breakfast, so I cooked my version of Spanish eggs. It was actually a few recipes combined – Parsi, frittata and spanish mixed with my own!
I cut two potatoes in discs and added salt, paprikt and garam masala to it. I let the potatoes fry till they were golden brown. I added sautéed mushrooms and then whisked eggs on top to make omelette a la Sonali 😊 They were a hit and we relished them with buttered toast.
I was determined to digitise my wedding album today. Yes, I got married so long ago that digital pics were not around. So I have an old fashioned album that looks like a suitcase. The pics are pasted scrapbook style and I wanted to make digital copies of them. I started and then got so lost in memories, that I abandoned the project halfway. We were so young and in these 20 years a whole generation of kids have become adults, we have lost some loved ones and so many people have disappeared from our lives. Such is life!
It started raining this evening and we decided to sit in the backyard enjoying the pittet patter of the rain. It was beautiful and the smell of the wet soil brought back so many memories of childhood. And then we saw a rainbow come up on the sky. Nature at its best! It was the best feeling in the world sitting and enjoying this beauty.
It was Harry Potter 6 night and we accompanied it with Aloo Tikki Burger. Yash has been missing india and every day asks me to make a dish from his memories with his cousin. So tonight was McDonald’s aloo tikki burger night. It was a hit! He has already put his next order – a paneer burger 🙄
Tomorrow will be another day. Here’s hoping health, strength and good wishes to everyone around the world so that we can come out of this pandemic as a stronger community.
