August 2026

Posted on September 2, 2026 by Sonali

August is mine and my son’s birthday month. So it has always remained special. This year was a bit different as he is in HSC, which meant my birthday was bang in the middle of his trials. But thankfully, his milestone birthday was way past it, so it was celebration time.

I cannot believe that my boy is 18! I still remember every day since his birth like it was yesterday. I guess that is what parenthood does to you. I hope that he has imbibed our values and will be an asset to this world. That is all that I have ever hoped or asked from the universe.

August was contented. The month kicked off with recording videos for our channel Zindagitidbits We love chatting and recording meaningful conversations to share with everyone.

Then it was the dance night with saree club. Dressed in our black and white sarees and laces and pearls, we danced to Asha Bhosle songs. There is a special camaraderie when there are 80 women in a room having fun. You have to be be part of it to witness that. It was an unforgettable night.

I am lucky and blessed to be surrounded by some amazing women. As I have grown older and more precious of my energy, I only spend time with people who give me joy. So i had 3 wonderful dinners with some of my favourite people. Laughing over good food is my favourite past time and that goal was achieved every single night.

I was really touched on receiving a precious birthday gift from my former team. They recorded messages, wrote notes and sang songs for me. I was very emotional and it reaffirmed my belief that being kind is a superpower we all have and can spread.

We always make time for things that are important to us. So, I make sure that I have some regular catch ups booked in my diary with people who are important to me. Charu and I bonded at work but she is now a close friend and month’s last Friday is our time where we catch up on life. I look forward to our meets.

Last weekend of the month was dedicated to my son who turned 18. It was an amazing milestone for us as a family, especially his dad who has been his primary carer. He is the man today coz his dad made sure that he gets all the life skills. It has been a journey and we look back as to how quickly the time has passed. I am looking fwd to watching my son shine as he achieves his life goals.

In between my son’s celebrations, I went to watch my bestie yearly theatre sojourn. She joined theatre to get out of her comfort zone and like everything else she does, excelled in it. It is now my treat to watch her grow as an actor in every theatre production she is part of.

Spring has officially arrived in Australia and I am looking fwd to some warmer days. It is my favourite season and September is already looking busy. Here is the snapshot of August.
