As we are all adjusting to this new way of living, I wanted to write something different today. And the inspiration came from my work colleagues.
Our director started a trend to ensure we are all engaged with each other while working apart. She created a schedule and every day a nominated person sends a post to the whole group about something fun, inspirational or connected to wellbeing as the world adjusts to all these new ways and methods of living.
It has been amazing experience since it started and some wonderful posts have since come out. It has also helped us get to know each other better. A team member posted inspiration about curbing anxiety in these times.

People have shared recipes, books, meditation techniques, free courses and some fun apps to keep busy at home. Some of my favourite so far have been
- Writing a journal – It struck me coz I love it and am doing it and it is helping me.
- Setting a routine – That is a key to work from home. I have set a morning and evening routine for myself and life is much better.
- Suggestions on books – I love reading as I have illustrated in a few of my blog posts and the books suggestions just added to my list.
I thought I will journal the Best and Worst things around being at home and something I am Looking Forward To when this ends.
Best – I am loving the work life balance I have been able to achieve since I have been working from home. I love having my morning cup of tea in peace, staring at my roses and listening to chirping birds in my backyard. I love enjoying breakfast with my boys. I love being able to turn off my computer at the end of the day and still have time to go for a walk and cook till it is time to sleep. I love the slow pace of life the pandemic has brought on and forced focus on things that are important for living “life”.
Worst – Initially I did not have a routine which meant that my work hours had no set start and finish time. I miss my daily walk with Poornima. I miss seeing my friends and our monthly get togethers. I miss the train ride and the long chats I had with Rattan and Shipra. I miss dinner party at Kala, the take away, the restaurant food and the laugher and camaraderie with so many of my friends.
Looking Forward To – I am looking forward to a different world. I am hoping that people would have gained a different perspective and there is a new normal. I am looking forward to going on long drives. I am looking forward to having a coffee at a cafe. I am looking forward to having the freedom to do things without the fear of a pandemic looming on my head!
This pandemic has reset the world – some good, some bad and some ugly things have been exposed. But I hope it will help us create a new world order where we can focus on the right things and leave a better world for our future generations.
