100 days of food – Day 40

Posted on May 11, 2014 by Sonali

Today is Mother’s Day. I feel blessed to be a mom coz I know there are many in this world who want to be but can’t. I also feel grateful that my mom is around. I would not be what I am today without my mom. Her innate common sense and courage to try and do everything is what I have got in my DNA. She is our strength and continues to amaze us. Love you mom!

My darling son woke me with a big kiss and a card reminding me what motherhood is all about. The crankiness disappears when there are little arms about your neck saying “I love you mom”. I can completely relate when they say children are your hearts walking around as little beings! He gave me a card and it was funny when I saw that my favourite food was Italian. I was surprised that he knew Italian food coz we don’t eat out that often. On further questioning it came about that he told his teacher that my fav food was Idlis but as she did not get what it was really, she wrote Italian. Very cute! The last line said it all, I love my mom coz she loves me…..that sums it up!

It was planned that we will go for brunch to Billus for Mother’s Day. So off we went to have the Indian version of breakfast which is carbs, carbs and more carbs. We had a sumptuous brunch of Aloo puri, chana bhatura and my favourite bread pakora. All the dishes can be summed up as carbs filled with carbs and then deep fried – intensely unhealthy but delicious to the core and staple at indian breakfast tables. Yash and Avi added mango lassi to the menu while I had the masala tea to finish the meal. It was fantastic and something that we don’t do very often. Here is a picture to add to my Mother’s Day collection.

On coming back we spent the day watching movies and just chilling. After a big nanna nap in the afternoon, dinner was simple rotis with leftover vegetables. After eating the brunch we had, our body was craving for simple home cooked food.
The weekend has ended and it is time to get ready for the week. Let us see what this week brings. Till tomorrow….
