We are firmly in the routine now! Early morning wake ups, 30 mins to cajole Yash to have his milk and get him ready for school. Phew! Now i know that school holidays are more to give poor parents and teacher a break, rather than the students!
I am getting better at my tech addiction. I can leave my phone and iPad for hours at time without feeling the need to constantly check them. Progress! I am thinking of leaving my phone in purse one whole Sunday and only picking up if there is a call or message. I will tell you how I go!
May 1 is approaching and I will start my 30 day walking challenge again. Last time it was interrupted by my cold (which I am suffering from again) but I am determined this time with lot of winter clothes! I have started eating healthy in preparation for that. We had masala fish fillet yesterday. I was inspired by my friend Padma who being from Kolkata knows her fish. The recipe was simple. I just patted the fish with a bit of pre mixed bbq spice and grilled it on the pan in a little butter. It was melt in the mouth beautiful!
So I mentioned that I will start the movie review today to keep us all entertained. Now I have no intention of reviewing it like they do in magazines. Mine would be purely from a fan point of view – good or bad.
This was the movie being shown on one of the Hindi movie channels. I jumped at the chance coz it is one of my favourite movies. The story is about 2 generation of lovers. Amitabh Bachchan in another avatar, is not an angry young man in this movie but a sensitive poet who is in love with Rakhee. She loves him back but gets married to Shashi Kapoor due to parental pressure. This breaks the poet’s heart and he stops writing.
20 years fast forward and we see that Rakhee is happily married with one son Rishi Kapoor. He is in love with Neetu Singh who comes to know that the parents she loves are not actually her birth parents but she was born out of wedlock to a woman who lives in Shimla. The woman turns out to be Waheeda Rehman, who is Amitabh Bachchan’s wife. They have a daughter named Sweety(some unknown actress).
Neetu reaches Shimla to confront her birth mother and Rishi Kapoor follows suit encouraged by his dad. Then comes the whole 3 way story between Rishi, Neetu and Sweety and the confrontation between Amitabh, Rakhee, Waheeda and Shashi.
What makes this movie different is Yash Chopra. He has made some of the best love stories on Indian Cinema. The music including the lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi are the highlight of the movie. The poem “Kabhie Kabhie” recited by Amitabh in his baritone is the stuff legends are made of – you have to listen to appreciate it.
One of the things that I like in Yash Chopra movies is he portrays his heroines as strong and beautiful. He always used to say that he worships women and that is shown in his movies. None of his movies degrade women but actually glorify them. The dialogue in Kabhie Kabhie are no different. Shashi Kapoor chastises Amitabh to say that he has double standards when he is still pining for his love and not accepting his wife’s love from before they were married. Awesome! I highly recommend this movie if you haven’t watched it. It is a classic for a reason.
Tomorrow will be another movie. Till tomorrow…..
