July 2025

Posted on August 1, 2025August 2, 2025 by Sonali

July was cold brrrr 🥶 I feel that it is colder than last few years but then I say that every year. My bones are getting older and feeling the cold more severely.

Because of the cold, I did not venture out too much. But I did make time to watch a movie and have some outings with my bestie. It is always food for the soul when we catch up and vent to each other. It is proven through research that women live longer as they have girlfriends to share and I am lucky that I was able to make close friends in my adopted homeland in my adulthood.

The two highlights for me in July was watching a play and our long awaited trip to Sunshine Coast.

In the last few years, the theatre scene in Sydney has exploded and I am very glad about that. The play “Smoke and Mirrors” was suggested by my friend Poornima as her director was acting in the play. I went with little expectation as it was a 3 hour play. But I was blown away. The story, the direction, the actors was just perfect. It was a wonderful evening spent with good friends.

We went for our long awaited trip to Sunshine Coast. We had not been to Queensland beyond Gold Coast, which has been our favourite spot for years. Sunshine Coast hit differently. It was serene. The pace was slower, the water was calmer and people were older. It is a lot less touristy and multicultural than Gold Coast.

We spent it doing nothing. The apartment we had rented was beautiful with water views. So days were spent on long walks, reading, watching Tv and watching the ocean. It was the rest we needed as a family.

The road trip back was long and tiring as the weather was bad and traffic worse. We remembered the good old days of road trips, when there were stretches on the road where you could not see another car for miles. That is now a thing only in memories.

August is birthday month and I am looking forward to all the celebrations. Here are some of the memories from July.
