June 2026

Posted on July 1, 2026July 4, 2026 by Sonali

It is officially winter in Australia and it is cold. Every year I feel the weather is getting cooler but the fact is my bones are getting older and more susceptible to the cold weather. Nonetheless, the weather did not dampen my spirits on going out and having fun.

I am a firm believer that relationships need to be nurtured and you have to invest time and emotions for it to flourish. As I have grown older, I have fewer people around me that I care about. These are the people I choose to spend my time with and invest in. I have always believed that you always have time for people and things you want to do, so I choose people who choose me.

June was dedicated to catching up with friends. From family friends to regular dinners with girlfriends, it was all about good food and even better conversations.

Apart from that, the two highlights this month was the Harry Potter Exhibition and Saree Club Cancer Council lunch. I went to the former with darling husband as we are both die hard potter fans and the latter with my saree group.

The Harry Potter exhibition was so much fun. We both chatted, interacted and roamed about like true potter fans. The exhibition is still running and I would highly encourage to go and visit if you are a potter fan.

Saree Club Cancer Council fundraiser is an annual affair and is hosted by one of the members in their home. This time an idea from one of the members gave the gathering a fun twist. We all carried a tiffin or dabba to the event with food made with love from our kitchen. A draw of slips drew the tiffin that you got. It was so much fun as we tasted food from various regions and different kitchens.

While we had fun, it was a somber affair as we lost one of our own, a saree sister’s son passed away after a longtime with cancer. But as she shared his story, it was a poignant reminder to all of us that a life is made of what you do, not how long. Nikhil’s story reminded us that you can make a powerful impact even when you are sick and fighting your own battles. Your kind acts remain even when you are long gone!

July will be cold, busy and fun. Here’s a snapshot of June!
