October 2025

Posted on November 1, 2025November 8, 2025 by Sonali

The month of joy – festivals and the birthdays of the two important men in my life, my dad and my husband. It was a very busy but fulfilling month.

I like to spend my time with people and places that either give me joy or give me money. So I kicked off the month in the company of my favourite people. I went to Chai and Sip where we tried our Michelangelo fantasies. Doing it with both my besties was so much fun. It turns out Padma is a painter, Poornima is the creator and I am just someone who likes colour. A fun evening dancing, eating and painting.

The next day, Avi and I went to the annual train expo at central station. Rails are fascinating and both of us grew up travelling on trains. They carry so many memories for us before fast and instant became cool. So visiting the rail expo is our ritual and brings back memories that we reminisce.

My best friend, Poornima and I do something different for our birthday month every year. This year we attended Taronga zoo in the dark. It was an amazing experience with shows and lights all around. The zoo was like a different place at dusk and night. We came back with a memorable night.

My other best friend Padma’s half century celebrations continued. It was our day out on the cruise and the weather turned up beautifully. It was a clear, windless sky. The food, the weather and us together made for amazing memories! We took a lot of pics to cement the moments as memories!

Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of being part of a wonderful group of women with common interests. We go for plays, symphonies, choirs and all things creative. One Saturday in October, we went together to attend the AR Rahman symphony. Curated by 2 young Australian Indians, it was magical. The orchestra and the beauty of AR Rahman music was sublime. We had an amazing time and were already planning the next one with the group.

Diwali, my favourite festival, rounded up the weekend with dinner and family time. I do miss my family even more when Diwali comes around and hope that next one will be with them.

The last weekend of the month was at the concert of one of my favourite performers, Dilijit Dosanjh. He is one of those superstars who has put India firmly on the global map through his music. Known for preforming in sold out stadiums, his music is foot thumping and sheer enjoyment. In spite of all the fame and adulation, he remains humble and grounded and someone who has not given up or compromised on his core values to rise.

The concert was at commbank stadium and packed. We thought we had pretty good seats till we realised that Indian crowd is known for their lack of civic sense and boorishness. People were climbing on the chairs, rushing in front and really creating a nuisance for everyone. His music was fabulous but the crowd really spoilt the experience. Everyone would have enjoyed but for the entitled crazy lot.

The month was festive with so many memories created. I love writing in my monthly blog, so that I can look back and read about it and remember the life gone by. Here are memories from October 2025
