Chickpeas recipe

Posted on May 7, 2011 by Sonali

Okay this recipe is for my friends Adam and tony.

Take 150g of chickpeas and soak them overnight. Boil them or pressure cook them till they are soft and cooked.

Puree two onions, 4-5 cloves of garlic, a small piece of ginger and half green chilli. Heat 4-5 tbsp of oil in a pan. Add 2 bay leaves, a small cinnamon stick, and a few crushed peppercorns and cloves in hot oil. (there is a mixture of this that u can get in an Indian shop called khada Garam masala)

Once the spices crackle, add the puree. Sauté the puree on medium heat till the oil separates. Then add equal amount of tomato puree. Sauté. Then add 3 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt to taste. Keep sautéing on medium heat till oil separates.

Add this to the cooked chickpeas and add water according the consistency that you like. Bring it to a boil and then simmer on medium heat for 10 minute.

Add Garam masala and top with coriander to garnish. Have it hot with steamed rice.
