I was looking for a definition for self care. And this one resonated with me – self care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. It is really important in our journey of happiness.
Today was the day to practise self care! I have been practising it for a few weeks, especially since we went into isolation. I have a routine that I follow which sets my day and keep my well being in sync.
I wake up in the morning and have my cup of tea in bed. That is my leisure time and I sip my tea slowly to savour it. It sets me up for the day ahead.
I love having breakfast with both my boys. It is a time where we chat and sit in peace at the table planning what we will be doing aS per our routines.
Nowadays I am working from home and it is very easy to just work. I did that initially and realised that I was not getting up from my desk all day. Since then, I have blocked my calendar for lunch breaks. It has certainly helped me break that monotony and made work from home more manageable.
I always read and/or listen to music before I go to sleep. These days I am also writing my blog. All these things help me wind down for the night.
Happiness and Well being are directly correlated. So it is important that we practice self care every day. What did you do today? Share your experience with us.
