Indian authors

Posted on May 16, 2011 by Sonali

Coming from an Indian background, I am always looking fwd to good books by Indian authors. As I mentioned in my last post, “Family Matters” by Rohinton Mistry was great. Now that I have a bit more time with Yash engaging himself here and there, I have started researching and ordering books by Indian authors that intrigue me or have good reviewed over all. So I have ordered the following few:

1. A Fine Family by Gurcharan Das – I read a few pages of this book ages ago at my friend Shivani’s place. I have since been looking for his book and finally found it.
2. Tamas by Bhisham Sahni – the great Indian series by the same name still invokes powerful memories what with Om Puri, Deepa Sahi and Bhisham Sahni himself in stellar performance. It was high time to read the novel behind the series.
3. Novels by Anita Rau Badami – I read about this author while browsing and the novels and the storyline seemed interesting. So I ended up ordering all three; A Hero’s Walk, Tamarind Women and Can You Hear the Nightbird Call?

I am looking fwd to reading all of them and will post my reviews…..
