March 2026

Posted on April 1, 2026April 4, 2026 by Sonali

I look back and quarter of the new year has passed. Time flies and it is all the more reason to make every moment count.

My goal of being meat free in march failed miserably. I am not a big meat eater but I am very bad at restricting myself to not eating a food type. I will definitely try again at some time.

The other goal of learning is ongoing. I am currently pursuing Masters in Education and this semester am studying Pedagogical Grammar. It is such a wonderful subject. Having learnt English as a second language, it is really opening my mind on how to teach it.

March was rich in experiences. I had dinner with my colleagues at this small Japanese restaurant which was such a find. The food was so authentic and delicious that we felt that we were in Tokyo. It was a lovely evening and we vowed to do it again.

The following weekend was the Women’s Day meet of the Saree Club. It was great to be in the company of some amazing women sharing stories of the silent work they do in the community, without asking for any accolades or awards. I see so many awards being paraded on social media and listening to these stories made me realise that the real heroes don’t flaunt their cape but just go about making a difference.

The later half of the month was fun – I watched movies with my husband, attended my sureeli meet and finally saw a play on Anne Frank. The play was a highlight, especially as making a play on one of the most loved books is risqué if you get it wrong. But the actors and the theatrical adaptation did full justice. It made me think of the futility of war and prejudice and looking around it seems that men don’t learn from their history!

I have picked up my reading and am reading more and more. The highlight of this month was Discipline, a novel which will really make you pause and think about free speech. If you haven’t read it, I highly encourage you to do so.

It is getting cooler and daylight saving will end in April. I love autumn and looking forward to cooler weather, food, rest and relaxation. Here’s a snapshot of March; till next month.
