Our grand drive to Gold Coast

Posted on September 5, 2009 by Sonali
Part 1

We had been wanting to do this for a long time…do an interstate drive in our car….so we thought, why not!! After celebrating Yash’s B’day on Saturday, we started our drive to gold coast on Sunday morning after a quick breakfast at home….in hindsight, it was not the best thing to do as we were all very tired. We had booked a night at Aqualuna resort at Coffs Harbour, so the aim was to reach there before night fall…hard but achievable if you consider the 3 hourly stops that were mandatory for Yash. We stopped at the McDonald’s on the freeway…that is a must and then the next stop was at Taree….by that time Yash was bored and all the entertaining with “Old MacDonald” and “The wheels of the bus” song did not stop the crying…BTW, my skills around improvising children’s songs is much better thanks to the constant singing for Yash at the back seat.

So we reached tired and exhausted at Coffs Harbour just after dusk….we got a bit lost:-( The resort seemed nice even though at that point of time we would have loved anything. But it was good to know that we had received an upgrade to an Ocean view apartment instead of the Garden view apartment that we had booked. The views from our apartment were amazing….we could hear the waves all night. Yash was absolutely ecstatic….he loved the apartment and was playing around the apartment block. Here are some of the pics below.

The next morning, after a sumptuous buffet breakfast, we started our onward journey. BTW, i would like to mention here that I love to stay at places which offer the buffet breakfasts. It makes my day. Here are some more pics…..

I will post more details about our trip in the next post now…taking a leaf out of Ornella’s blog…it is hard to write everything in one blog.
