Sydney – As a tourist

Posted on November 8, 2009 by Sonali
So my Father-in-law arrived from India last week….he had been meaning to come for quite some time but could not wait any longer what with the added attraction of his only grandchild. Yash was excited…he now has someone to play with…someone who is more than willing to throw ball at him at his command and also does not say”NO” every few minutes…That is what grandparents are for…stretching the boundaries set by the parents and indulging their grandkids.

We have been taking him around Sydney on the weekends…me being so busy during the week….it is refreshing to see Sydney from a visitor’s eye. Sometime we forget that we are living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Last week, we took him to the Opera House. Of course, like any other tourist he was delighted to see the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge, two things that make Sydney stand out in the world. The usual rounds of photographs took place…Yash was asleep during the entire sojourn and promptly woke up for lunch….The only downside was that he was not used to so much walking…i mean not so much for us but for him who is used to taking his car everywhere in India. We only walked from Circular Quay to Town Hall but that was enough to make him tired……

This weekend we took him to Darling Harbour. I don’t know how much he enjoyed but Yash was in his element. He decided that the sea gulls have no business to be on land and chased them around. It was hilarious seeing him run around after them. Yash is now at a stage where he hates his pram. Now that he has discovered his feet, he wants to run around and shows his indignation when his parents are tired chasing him and want him tied in the pram…now I know why it is important to have your children in the 20s…you need LOTS of energy for the little ones.

So here is to all my friends who are planning to have kids…my advice…have them in your 20s….it is much easier for you and your child….
